Introduction to Ephraim’s Forum
The Lord has told us that, “Every man that
will not take his sword against his neighbor must needs flee unto Zion for
safety.” This is a website dedicated to
truth as comprehended in Jesus Christ, Joseph Smith, the scriptures, The
Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and other writings that bring
light to our minds and truth to our souls.
The desire of this
website is to be an instrument in helping to, “bring forth and establish …
Zion” which, “cannot be built up unless it is by the principles of … the
celestial kingdom”; two of those principles being the law of consecration and
plural marriage, which, if lived rightly, will impact the social and economic
lives of those who do so.
Indeed it is
within the laws of God where we will find the keys whereby we may, “Come out of
… (Babylon) that (we) be not partakers in her sins, and that … (we) be not
partakers of her plagues.” In order for
this to be accomplished we must look to the priesthood, it being the government
of God; (not speaking of any man or set of men, but the eternal principles of
the priesthood upon which our Constitutional government, and the government of
our Lord, is established.) In seeking
to understand that government the inspired Constitution should be a primary
source as we attempt to find order, to maintain a true course, and to secure
for ourselves and ours the blessings of the everlasting gospel.
As we delve into,
and struggle to understand, the science of Theology we will find that there is
no science that it does not encompass, and no subject in which it is not
innately a part. Making every one of
the ills we see in our society, or the world in general, a subject of topic.
In all of this we
must be careful not to judge to quickly or distance ourselves from those
people, or things, we might consider enemies.
Often truth is paradoxical having two sides. If we reject to quickly something that seems to contradict what
we know to be true we may cut ourselves off from a larger truth essential to
our salvation.
I have concluded
that the only things anyone can know are those things that they have
experienced; hence most of what we believe is based on the evidence we are
given, and the trust we have in those who are supplying said evidence to
us. There is one more very critical
factor in all this, and that is honesty.
None of us are 100% honest; therefore even if all that is placed before
us is true there is still a tendency to disregard that which doesn’t line up
with preconceived notions, concepts, or ideals. That is why a forum is so important. It puts everyone on equal ground in their struggle for
understanding. I am prone to believe
that even the honesty one encounters can be infectious thus allowing growth in
every conceivable way. We should also
remember that science has in times past clashed with religious concepts and
come out the victor simply because some religious concepts were based on
erroneous interpretations. Therefore
serious consideration should be given to all sides of important issues, and
people from all walks of life should be encouraged to participate in this forum
in order that a more whole and complete truth may be found.
Yet the greatest
challenge for all of us (and in this we stand alone) is that of incorporating
into our lives these principles and laws of heaven. To open ourselves so the Lord can do as he, “Saith …; I will put
my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them
a God, and they shall be to me a people.”
To allow for, and work towards the creation within ourselves of a
“Living Constitution” that cannot die as long as the spirit within us lives. We bid all welcome to Ephraim’s forum!
