I don't know that anyone has actually posted the connection between the restoration of the gospel through Joseph Smith and the assigned duties to Ephraim. Joseph Smith once told an immigrant from the British Isles that he was a direct descendant of Jesus Christ. There is evidence that a School of the Prophets existed in the B.I. for hundreds of years and statues of, for example, Jeremiah. Evidence that Jesus was in the B.I. traveling with his uncle, Joseph of Arimethea, who controlled merchant ships to and from the B.I. Evidence that Jesus had a home there. There have been connections to the"lost tribes" of Israel who were taken captive and then used to defend the borders of their captives and then migrating northwest until settling those European regions. The flag of Denmark represents the tribe of Dan..the Danish people for example, who were rugged sailors and explorers. The Covenant People possessing a sceptor and assumed right to rule were the Brit-ish. Hence a connection to the monarchy of England and their protectorship of Israel. Hence the Unicorn symbol. LDS origins favor Israel, in that all the tribes of earth should be blessed through the covenant people and that they should be a special and peculiar people..a light and beacon in darkness. Jesus lived at a time when oppressive Roman rule was the cause for suicide in palestine and massive deaths around the world. Jesus was a very advanced man in his thinking and his example in impossible times. Banking, trade, racial bigotry, all existed in forms similar to today. Everyone in palestine had hatred for the "Gentile" whom they employed to sail their ships and carry the mail. Metals such as lead and tin were shipped from the British Isles stamped with Roman marks. Jesus, himself, when in the northern region of Galilee was classified as a Gentile. Jesus said that new wine must be put in new bottles, and called out the hypocrites, and started a church which turned the Gospel to the Gentiles. His example was not the "eye for an eye" mentality, instead a loving solution. A passive protest for evil. A cooperative to change conditions on earth based in the rules given by the "teacher of righteousness." Not everyone would have been of a tribe of Israel or such an order, but all the world would benefit by the example of people who were true and honest and of integrity.
