Dear
Governor Leavitt,
I am writing to you because you have
placed yourself, your household and your immortal soul in very grave danger
according to the word of God. Before
the LDS Church fell into disfavor with the God of Abraham by issuing and
accepting the 1890 Manifesto, Wilford Woodruff received a direct revelation
from God on January 26, 1880. This
revelation was accepted by President John Taylor and the quorum of twelve as
“profitable for doctrine.” Consider
this portion:
“32. And I say again, woe unto
that nation or house or people who seek to hinder my people from obeying the
Patriarchal Law of Abraham, which leadeth to a Celestial Glory, which has
been revealed unto my saints through the mouth of my servant Joseph.
33. For whosoever doeth these things shall be damned, saith the Lord of hosts, and shall be broken up and wasted away from under heaven
by the judgments which I have sent forth, and which shall not return unto me
void.
34. And thus with the sword
and by bloodshed, and with famine
and plagues and earthquakes and the thunder
of heaven and the vivid lightnings
shall this nation and the nations of the
earth be made to feel the chastening hand of an Almighty God until they are
broken up and destroyed and wasted away from under heaven, and no power can stay
my hand.
35. Therefore, let the wicked tremble, let them that blaspheme my name hold their lips, for destruction will swiftly overtake them.”
From the mouth of God, Utah and the
United States of America will be “broken up and destroyed and wasted
away.” There is nothing that can stop
this annihilation as foretold by most of God’s true prophets. Sadly, Governor, unless you repent, the “house” of Leavitt will be “destroyed”
also and you will be “damned.”
On July 23, 1998, during you KUED
press conference, you expressed your beliefs that “polygamists” have rights
under Article One of the Bill of Rights.
You said you knew “polygamists” in your youth and said some of them were
“pretty good people.” Such ‘sympathy’
could not be tolerated, and after a few days of world attention and a Jay Leno
joke or two and most likely a ‘back- channel’ scolding from the LDS Church, you
changed your tune. Your “clarification”
has now placed you, Michael Leavitt, on the side of those who serve
Lucifer. You have made the God of
Israel your enemy, and unless you speedily repent, you will be “damned”! Your
words have damned you; you stated that Plural Marriage (polygamy) should
“remain so”; remain unlawful and its practitioners should remain outlaws. You stated that it is the responsibility of
the counties to prosecute. Are you
going to advocate the arrest of the Sodomites who are flooding into the state,
or the adulterers or fornicators who live here? Half of your “pretty great state” will be incarcerated!
Governor, you had a chance to stand
for religious freedom and a chance to advocate the decriminalization of plural
marriage (polygamy), as practiced by your forefathers; but sadly, you have declared yourself a bastard and a
descendant of outlaws. You are the outlaw, Governor, and not
your forefathers, because God, through Isaiah, said that “seven women shall
take hold of one man”, Isaiah 4:1. You
have stood against the Lord God Almighty and said that plural marriage
(polygamy) should ‘forever’ “remain” against the law. Therefore, Governor Leavitt, “tremble...for destruction will swiftly overtake” you! “Tremble”, Mike Leavitt, for you are damned, unless you repent. Take immediate steps to advocate the
legalization of plural marriage (polygamy) and let the fallen LDS Church look
for another excuse for their disobedience to God; for, by the mouth of God,
unless the LDS Church repents, it too will be “broken up and destroyed and
wasted away from under heaven.”
Scott Howell, you are embarrassed
because the world press will come to Utah and interview “fundamentalist”
“Mormons”’; the press will then confuse “fundamentalists” with members of your
church, you think. You say that
fundamentalists are “no more Mormon than pie in the sky” (Sept. 3, 1998, KSL
Radio). It is you who are not “Mormon”,
Howell, and you say plural marriage (polygamy) is against the laws of your god,
this is because your god is Lucifer.
You advocate miscegenation, abortion, baptism for murderers, government
by secret combinations, and the persecution of those attempting to live the law
of Abraham; you do this by virtue of your membership in a fallen, apostate
church. You made it clear that your
political attacks against those who practice plural marriage (polygamy) are
motivated by your religious beliefs (that plural marriage (polygamy) is
“against the laws of [your] God.”) By the voice of the God of Abraham, you too,
Howell, will be “destroyed” in the flesh and “damned”. Like the inquisition, you are using your
political power to further the aims of your church through persecution, you do
this at the peril of your soul.
Finally Governor, I personally mean
no harm to you or your family, yet you will be destroyed and damned if you do
not quickly repent and amend the damage you have done by taking positive action
to decriminalize plural marriage (polygamy).
Sincerely,
D. Michael Bingham
“What would be necessary to bring about the results nearest
the hearts of the opponents of Mormonism?
Simply to renounce, abrogate, or apostatize from the New and Everlasting
Covenant of Marriage in its fulness.
Were the church to do that as an entirety, God would reject the Saints
as a body. The authority of the
Priesthood would be withdrawn with its gifts and powers and there would be no more heavenly recognition of the
administrations. The heavens would
permanently withdraw themselves, and the Lord would raise up another people of
greater valor and stability, for His work must, according to His unalterable decrees,
go forward; for the time of the second coming the Savior is near, even at the
doors.”
(President John Taylor, Deseret News, April 23, 1885)

A Revelation on Celestial
Marriage given to President John Taylor on September 27, 1886.
“1. My son John: You have asked me concerning
the New and Everlasting covenant [polygamy] and how far it is binding upon my
people.
2. Thus saith the Lord: All command-ments that I give must be obeyed by those calling themselves by my name unless they are revoked by me or by my authority and how can I revoke an everlasting covenant.
3. For I the Lord am everlasting and my
everlasting covenants cannot be abrogated nor done away with; but they stand
forever.
4. Have I not given my word in great plainness
on this subject?
5. Yet have not great numbers of my people been
negligent in the observance of my law and the keeping of my commandment, and
yet have I borne with them these many years and this because of their weakness
because of the perilous times. And
furthermore it is more pleasing to me that men should use their free agency in
regard to these matters.
6. Nevertheless I the Lord do not change and my
word and my covenants and my law do not.
7. And as I have heretofore said by my servant
Joseph all those who would enter into my glory must and shall obey my law.
8. And have I not commanded men that if they
were Abraham’s seed and would enter into my glory they must do the works of Abraham.
9. I have not revoked this law nor will I for
it is everlasting and those who will enter into my glory must obey the
conditions thereof, even so Amen.”

Taylor papers. Church Historians Office)
